The world is rapidly heating up. Thanks to the buildup of gasses, it advances global warming and climate change at a rate that has never been seen for centuries. The damage has been done. There’s no point denying that. However, we can still change our ways and reduce the damage we are currently inflicting on the world by supporting sustainable living among others.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of challenges facing all of us. For starters, the government agency that’s been trying to undo the damage of climate change and taking appropriate measures to prevent us from doing more harm will lose the government’s support and no longer be able to continue their existing environment-friendly programs. President Trump has been vocal in saying that climate change is a hoax, so it does not come out as a surprise that he is stripping the US Environmental Protection Agency of much-needed funds for its operation.
If there’s a silver lining to the toxic cloud hovering over the White House, it’s that our science-denying president hasn’t caused too much damage to the environment. Yet.
But nearly four months into the Trump administration, the risks to the nation’s air,
As kids, we had to take science classes from first grade until high school. All these classes taught us all the basic science concepts and many other important things in life, from the origins of life, how the human body works, and other more complex topics such as chemistry and physics. The subject wasn’t always easy but many times we have enjoyed understanding scientific concepts come to life and understood by our simple brain.
Much has changed today when it comes to science and technology. There are newer discoveries that have strengthened previous scientific theories or some that have entirely refuted them. It is likewise easier for us to gain access to a vast amount of knowledge on the web, something that we didn’t have access to in the past. It’s funny, though, that our understanding of what science really is about have become clouded regardless of how much we know about it now.
APOLOGIES TO MERRIAM, Webster, and everyone else who has ever assigned themselves the chore of cataloging how English speakers use words, but science is not a noun. I mean, yes, technically it is.1 But conversationally, most people use ‘science’ like Mark
France has always been a great country from then until now. It is home to a rich culture and the arts and many notable people in history hail from this picturesque country. The place in itself is known for famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, making it a premier destination among tourists both local and foreign.
Like any sovereign nation, politics in France is not far from different from that of the rest of the world. Leaders come and go but some leave a permanent mark that the people and the world won’t forget. France will soon elect its new leader and everyone is restless. Over the years, terrorist threats have claimed lives in the country’s capital and many other issues plaguing the nation as of late.
France will head to the polls not once, but twice, to decide their next president. And whoever wins will take over from the most unpopular president in French history – Francois Hollande.
The second European country to vote in the ‘super year of elections’, the French election doesn’t start until April 23, but has already seen plenty of drama with allegations of fraud surrounding right-wing
President Trump is a great businessman. How could he build such an empire if he knew nothing about the trade, right? However, his new position as the U.S. president is not a business gamble. For four years, his decision will shape the nation and everyone else living in it. Soon after assuming office, he already made quite a few daring moves involving travel bans and more travel bans in his serious stance against terrorists and illegal immigrants. Well, it does not come as a surprise since he has been very vocal about his position on it for years now.
But other aspects of nation building are also affected by his unorthodox policies. While he gives utmost priority to defense, immigration and safety and security of everyone, he gives less importance to other equally important issues like education, trade, the arts, and many others. As a businessman himself, he should be a genius already when it comes to business policies that can help boost the country’s economy. However, it seems like his business acumen isn’t manifesting yet in his unprecedented leadership.
The United States broke with other large industrial nations over trade on Saturday as
To travel is to feed your senses and make lasting memories to last a lifetime. Not everyone is comfortable in leaving their homes and going somewhere new for a certain period of time. We all thrive in the safety and comfort offered by our homes but it is hard to pass up on the adventure of a lifetime. Traveling is so much easier now with cheaper airline flights and the convenience offered by the World Wide Web. You can easily book an Airbnb in any part of the world without breaking the bank. You can also come up with your travel itinerary months ahead before your big trip since you can find all the details you need on the web.
With the advent of smartphones, all these perks are now in the palm of your hand. You can do so many things all at once with no sweat at all, wherever you may be. As you feed your wanderlust, it is unavoidable to fall ill during your travels. It may be just a common cold or flu or a bout of diarrhea from all the street and exotic foods you have consumed the day before …
Dancing is like art in motion. Similar to spoken poetry, the grace and fluid body movements of dancers captivate the hearts and attention of the audience. Not everyone is gifted with such a talent. And if you are among the gifted, you need to hone your talent through the years because it can get rusty over time. Like singers, most dancers start to train young. They join dance classes and dance groups to build their familiarity with the different grooves and build their confidence on stage as well.
Dancers invest their time and effort in perfecting their craft. However, like with any other aspects of the arts in the country today, it is at serious risk of budget cuts that can affect productions and so much more. President Trump does not fully support the arts in his federal budget plans, so is education, free trade, etc. Will the industry ever cope with such a lack of support from the federal government or is it the end for everyone involved?
On Thursday, the Trump administration released a preliminary 2018 budget proposal, which details many of the changes the president wants to make to the federal
With the growing popularity of social media today, there is a need to constantly update your family, friends, and acquaintance about what’s new in your life on a daily basis. Hence, the term “selfie” became a sensational hit and was even added to dictionaries. Other words that are related to taking photos also appeared like groufie, for instance. It simply means a group selfie.
We only realized how narcissistic we all are with the advent of smartphones and social media. And you don’t even need to purchase an expensive DSLR camera to capture Instagram-worthy photos. Your personal smartphone will do. You can copy popular poses on Instagram and fill your feed with amateur photos that look professional to the untrained eye. And mind you, people make a living from their social media accounts. You’ll be surprised on how much they make just posting photos, videos, and updates about themselves.
It’s a hard life. 21 years old, 300,000 followers, traveling the world for a living, posting your photographic results to Instagram. That’s the day-to-day of Jacob Riglin, who is instantly likeable no matter how much you want to begrudge his seemingly perfect life. Instagram has
We are all familiar with computers and how they work. We use it on a daily basis we have learned a lot of tricks in navigating the web. But as ordinary people, there are still many things we do not know about the Internet. Aside from the web that we navigate each day, there is the dark web that is home to all sorts of criminals on the planet.
There is nothing as loathsome as child pornography. Imagine taking advantage of a vulnerable child and taking away their innocence because of a pedophile’s selfish sexual desires. Kids should be allowed to be kids and play to their heart’s content. But today, many pedophiles lurk in the dark corners of the web where children from all over the world are exploited by these heartless creatures.
The illegal trade in children being raped and violently abused is at “a level of epidemic proportions” according to an internal Canadian government memo obtained last summer by The Canadian Press.
It was the fourth major statement by North American senior government staff warning of a crisis that too few in the media seem prepared to recognize much less report
With the Trump Presidency, you can expect his policies to be Pro-American. From the very beginning, Trump was very vocal in saying that he will make America great again by wiping out the nation of illegal immigrants and other nationalities that are a threat to the safety and security of all Americans.
While his intention is good, he forgets one important thing: that many U.S. industries and companies rely heavily on foreign workers to get the job done. And to think of it, many skilled and highly-intellectual occupations in the country are done by foreigners. Even in the technology sector, a lot of computer programmers are foreigners. But in line with the recent immigration policies of President Trump, the next to be hit will likely be them. These sought-after foreign computer programmers will now have a hard time getting an H-1B visa in the United States.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services quietly over the weekend released new guidance that computer programmers are no longer presumed to be eligible for H-1B visas.
What it means: This aligns with the administration’s focus on reserving the temporary visas for very high-skilled (and higher-paid) professionals while encouraging low- and
The U.S. is a land of opportunity for many. And as such, many foreign immigrants have called it home for years. Unfortunately, there are also a few who are undocumented and live under the radar of the government. But with the unprecedented win of President Trump last election, all of that is about to change as he signs more immigration policies that are set to reshape the nation that we call home.
If you are an ordinary citizen leading an ordinary life and doing ordinary things, the term “unmasking” won’t have any significant meaning to you. But if you are aware of the country’s immigration policies and spying capabilities, you’d understand pretty well what unmasking means. In a nutshell, here is what you need to know about this much talked about practice.
The investigation into Russian interference in the presidential election — and President Trump’s counterattack against surveillance and leaking — has brought a new term into the American political lexicon.
Until now, the process for revealing information about U.S. citizens in intelligence reports was almost completely obscure outside of the intelligence community.
But the issue has taken on new importance since House
Pet lovers and pet owners consider their pets as a part of their family and shower them with love and affection aside from providing their needs. In a sense, pets are like your children, albeit in a rather furry way. In America, most pet owners have cats and dogs at home and for good reason. There has been news now and then of pets saving their owner’s lives from accidents or even a medical emergency.
And it is actually true, especially with dogs. Their heightened senses make them more sensitive to certain things than their human counterparts. There is a reason why dogs are made into guard dogs and guide dogs by many. Indeed, man can always rely on his trusty furry best friend to save the day for him.
Most people are aware of the incredible talents of #Dogs to sniff out such things as explosive, weapons, drugs, lost people and their “enemies,” the feline. There is just something special about their sniffers that cannot compare to us as a human. A dog has a sense of smell anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 times more sensitive than that of any person. This is due
Several years ago, not many owned a laptop or a computer at home. It was a luxury that many can still afford to live without. Yet as the years go by and as technology progresses, most of us begin to realize that these technological contraptions are already a necessity that everyone needs to have at home. While smartphones give us access to the web and offer more flexibility, the enduring capability and multitasking properties offered by either a laptop or a desktop computer outshines the more handy and flashy smartphones and tablets.
Now, if I were to ask you, will you go for a laptop or a desktop computer? It may be a tricky question for some but you eventually have to choose over time. What you buy depends on your computing needs. While a laptop is undoubtedly a crowd favorite because of the comfort and convenience it offers, it does have its disadvantages. The same can be said about desktop computers. Choosing which one to buy all boils down to what you need.
You may never buy another laptop.
Ten years ago, laptop sales overtook desktop PC sales to become the dominant hardware platform
Sleep is a luxury. At the end of a long day, we all look forward to lying down in bed and enjoy the comfort and relaxation it brings. We may hate being told to go to sleep as kids but we now realize its value as adults when adult-ing and adult responsibilities take away precious sleep from us. Moreover, our health also deteriorates as our body gets older and the lack of sleep puts our health in even grave danger.
An example of a sleep disorder that is far too common but only a few gets treated for is sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a medical condition that is characterized by snoring during sleep. This disorder happens as your breathing constantly pauses or stops while sleeping. It is a life-threatening condition that many of us only laugh about, not fully understanding the severity of such a condition.
Snoring is the vibration of the respiratory channel in the human body that results in the generation of sound due to obstructed air movement during breathing in the sleep. In some of the cases, the sound may be soft, but in some cases, the sound could be loud
We are all human. Whether we are ordinary citizens or one born with a silver spoon in his/ her mouth, we get affected by the issues that surround us. Although the rich can afford to ignore the issues that affect the masses while living in their big mansions with high gates, they still see everything once they go out of their expensive homes. What’s more, political issues can also affect their businesses and relationship with others.
But as the world gets smaller and smaller because of technology, it becomes harder for everyone to turn a blind eye to pressing issues that require our attention. Even celebrities rise up to the challenge and speak up about their opinions on various topics. Celebrity activism was even more prominent during the last U.S. election when the stars openly showed their support to their chosen individuals to lead the country.
During the past few years, we have seen an occurring trend of celebrities giving their political opinions. More recently, celebrities have consistently used award shows as a platform to talk about political issues.
Some of the political comments made during award shows occur at the opening of the show
Raw talent is undeniably the most important thing for someone to make it big in the industry. Of course, a pleasing personality and a beautiful face to boot are also big factors but not all the time that famous musicians and singers are always good looking. Many things have changed in the music industry over the years. Gone were the days when people used to listen to cassette tapes or their walkman to enjoy a good song or two.
Nowadays, everything has gone digital. Although conventional CDs are still sold by music labels and make up a big chunk of music sales, music is now being sold online through iTunes, for instance, where everyone can listen to their favorite music from the comfort of their smartphones. Technology may have helped the music industry grow and reach out to more people but it has also limited the industry in some ways. Even the movies are also affected by all these changes.
With theater attendance at a two-decade low and profits dwindling, the kind of disruption that hit music, publishing, and other industries is already reshaping the entertainment business. From A.I. Aaron Sorkin to C.G.I. actors to
We all rely on technology to get things done nowadays. From simple household chores, school assignments, work research, entertainment, and so much more, technology is at its core. So, it is not unusual to find a computer or other smart gadget in every home these days. These gadgets are far becoming more of a necessity than the luxury that it once was.
While most of us may own a computer or a laptop today, it does not mean that we are all tech-savvy when it comes to using it. We may know how to navigate the web and perform basic and some semi-advanced computer functions but it does not necessarily mean we can fix our computer once it gets broken because more often than not, we don’t. Only experts have extensive computer hard drive know-how. It involves familiarization with various technical processes and terminologies that one learns from in school.
As technology takes over the world, businesses must also go digital in order to keep up and maintain their business. Traditional small and medium businesses have no choice but to establish an online presence to stay relevant in a world that is continually changing and improving. Most big businesses got this aspect covered because they have the money to burn and the manpower to do the job for them but many small and medium enterprises struggle in making this transition, with many forming professional groups to cooperate and share resources.
A globally interconnected world can actually work to your advantage because you are no longer limited by physical barriers that normally affect businesses in the past. The world is your oyster and you can make business in different corners of the world, which can probably increase your profit by more than you can imagine. However, for newbies and entrepreneurs who have no idea how to navigate technology, it might be a struggle and can greatly impede the growth of their business.
The entrepreneurial landscape has been transformed by global interconnectivity, new supply chains, dynamic emerging markets and technological innovation. For European small businesses, taking full
Since time immemorial, there are people who are more generous than others. Giving back to the poor is something natural for them. Their selfless attributes are probably what shaped modern charity and gift giving in the world today. Not everyone has the same opportunities in life and those who have been blessed more than others feel grateful for their blessings and also learned to share their blessings to those in need.
Charity work is a bit different nowadays. The new twist in giving back to the poor has to do with more advanced technology that is now available to us. Even ordinary citizens can easily set up GoFundMe pages for various causes and people who are more blessed than others are quick to pitch in and donate whatever amount they can. However, there are a few who takes advantage of the generosity of others and steals a portion of the money that should have been given to the poor.
Last week’s devastating Westminster attack left 5 people dead and a shocked nation reaching for their wallets to donate to the family of Keith Palmer, the valiant police officer who confronted Khalid Masood as he attempted
The world thinks the U.S. is a mighty and progressive country. And in many ways, they are correct in their thinking. The U.S. supports other developing nations and gives out funding for different programs and services. For many, they also see America as a land of opportunities and a greener pasture where opportunities are endless if you just work hard enough.
What the rest of the world doesn’t know is that while the U.S. appears to be a formidable nation, it also struggles with internal issues, most of which involves government officials and policies, the economy and even that of poverty. Education is expensive in America, which is why many American youths no longer proceed to college after graduating from high school. Hence, they miss out on better work opportunities where more experienced and educated foreign workers qualify for.
It is the reason why a lot of American families rely on federal welfare. The number of the homeless people continues to rise as more employees get laid off from work because of budget cuts and a struggling economy. So, just what is the extent of poverty in America?
A healthy body is your best defense against sickness. Our body is naturally equipped with antibodies that can fight off infections on its own. However, with the numerous stressors we face each day and the fact that even bacteria themselves evolve to become resistant to antibiotics.
Hence, getting yourself vaccinated is the best recourse to protecting yourself from illness and ensure you are always in great shape to do what you need to do each day. Infants and young children are required to get certain vaccinations and as we grew up, we think less and less of it unless we are asked to do so, like annual flu shots perhaps. Now, the question is, do we really need to get vaccinated or can we just rely on our natural antibodies to get us through our lifetime?
There are a number of reasons why adults need vaccines.
Vaccines wear off with time
Some vaccines given during childhood wear off with time. As a result, a booster shot(s) is needed during adulthood.
The dosing and timing varies, but an example is diphtheria and tetanus vaccines that require a booster every 10 years, even for adults.
People achieve inner calm and peace through meditation. Meditating clears your mind and helps you forget your problems and worries even for just a short while. It is an art that is perfected by monks and yogis. But even though you are not a monk or is probably a struggling yoga beginner, meditating can offer you a lot of health benefits aside from just giving you temporary inner peace.
But as technology progresses, what little time we have for ourselves to ponder and reflect on our life and life decisions is taken away by too much technology use. Many people today are hooked on social media and excessive smartphone use. We put ourselves under undue stress from the constant #FOMO, lack of sleep, and insecurities as we compare our lives to that of our family and friends. Instead of spending your free time tinkering with your gadgets or keeping yourself updated on what’s trending and viral online, why not give meditation a try. It is probably what we all need in a world that is fast becoming full of technological distractions by the day.
While studying the effects of meditation on human health, researchers in
The West Coast does not have to go through severe seasonal changes unlike states on the East Coast. And because of its location in the Southern part of California, you can enjoy a fairly temperate weather in San Diego. It is also home to acres upon acres of trees (some of which that need professional maintenance, for sure) that keep everyone cool and comfy despite the heat.
Who doesn’t like Spring, right? It’s like the perfect outdoor weather for everyone. But there is something more to look forward to in San Diego come Spring – cherry blossoms. You no longer have to cross the Pacific and travel thousands of miles away to see some pretty gorgeous cherry blossoms in bloom. San Diego is home to some of the prettiest cherry blossoms in the country and you’d feel transported to Japan just seeing these parks and gardens in bloom.
With the wildflower spread at Anza-BorregoDesert and the blooming of the cherry blossoms at the JapaneseFriendshipGarden in BalboaPark, Spring is definitely in the air. This year marks the twelfth anniversary of the Cherry Blossom Festival in San Diego, which
We enjoy all the things we do, whether at school, at work, or at play. But at the end of the day, nothing is more comforting and rewarding than being able to lie down in bed and make our way to dreamland. Sleep is a vital human need. You’ll have a hard time functioning as a normal human being if you are sleep deprived.
Not only is sleep vital to restore normal body functions, it is also crucial to maintain good health always. Constant sleep deprivation can put you at higher risk of certain health diseases and disorder that were easily avoidable if you just sleep at least eight hours at night. But sometimes, lack of sleep can also be due to the loud snoring of your partner or perhaps the difficulty in breathing you experience while sleeping if you are a snorer yourself.
It might not be just an example of a bad habit. If snoring happens frequently, then it can make a great influence on quantity and quality of the sleeping and overall health. Snoring may cause problems not only for you but also for your roommates and loved ones. Returning to
With experience I came to see the yearly color extravaganza as an opportunity to sharpen basic photographic skills and explore new techniques that are applicable anywhere. Here are your tips, friends.
1. Polarizing the Light
Is it trite to say that photography is all about light? Fall offers a time to get out and experiment with the subtle effects created by the changing light and angles of the sun. I’ve always kept extra gadgets to a minimum, as I prefer to exploit “available light.” However, the reflectiveness of shiny leaves and vertical rock surfaces makes a polarizer absolutely indispensable. A slight twist of this filter can reduce reflections on shiny surfaces, and can also produce dramatically saturated colors in an otherwise drab scene.
2. Working with Early & Late Sunlight
The most consistently reliable photographic “trick” is to shoot in early morning or evening light. Low sun angles produce natural side lighting with rich shadows that enhance the texture and depth of landscapes, and the warm light lends a nostalgic glow to your images.
A polarizer is at its maximum effectiveness when the view is at a right angle to the sun’s
Because the refrigerator wasn’t working, I did a little creative electrical wiring to get the interior light bulb to function. This bulb was directly wired to a plug so that it could be connected to an electrical outlet. I wanted this bulb to work so the interior of the fridge would appear to be lit solely by this source. But because it was a dim light source and I needed to freeze the motion of the model, I opted for using flash in addition to the tungsten bulb. Due to the limited space available to place a strobe head inside the refrigerator, I settled on a Nikon SB-24. This is a small “on-camera” unit which is normally used with a 35mm camera. This flash has an sync post which allows a sync cord to be connected to the flash so it can be discharged by any camera or remote. The strobe was duct-taped to the top, in back of the fridge, about six inches away from the rear wall. This would cause the light to bounce off the white walls of the fridge, illuminating its contents and the model.
Having a RAID array can make you feel pretty proud of yourself. Either you made it yourself or you had someone do it for you. You feel pretty great knowing that you’ve increased the productivity of your computer and that the server you’ve been using or had planned is working out well. RAID 5 is different from RAID 1 and RAID 10 in that it doesn’t have hard drives that simply mirror each other.
Since RAID 5 uses parity data you need to determine the parity position and rotation in order to get the full configuration of your array. If you’ve had a failure and you want to manually recover your data you need to unsure you know where the parity data is being stored so that you can map your array and know exactly what needs to be corrected.
(Warning: If you don’t understand any of what you’ve just read, look here for some emergency data recovery tips. You don’t want to damage your server!)
The RL-59 consists of two main pieces, connected by a coil cord. The control unit mounts in the camera’s hot-shoe, and looks much like any hot-shoe flash unit, except there’s a cord coming out of a black plate where the flash tube normally would be. There’s even a tilting “bounce” head and a red AF-illuminator window, although neither serves a function with the RL-59: They’re there because the control unit shares a body shell with another Phoenix flash unit. The ring flash head measures about 3.6×4.5 inches, and screws into the adapter ring on the front of the camera lens.
Specs include an ISO 100 guide number of 59 (in feet), an auto distance range of 1-10 feet, a flash duration that runs from 1/1000 at 10 feet to 1/40,000 at one foot (great for freezing skittish insects), a color temperature of 5600 K (daylight), and a recycle time of 0.5-6 seconds. The unit operates on four easy-to-find AA alkaline batteries, and provides 120-2000 flashes per set, depending on shooting distance. The wide (and symmetrical) 80 [degrees] angle of coverage illuminates the entire area seen by a 28mm lens (on a 35mm camera), and covers
There are several circumstances that can predispose snoring. These include weakness of the muscles within the throat, excess tissues within the throat and obstruction in the nasal passageway. The muscles within your throat can become weak as your age progresses. But these can also be weakened by unhealthy lifestyle. If you want to avoid snoring, you have to make certain that your respiratory structures are in good condition. You can do this by keeping a balanced diet and exercising regularly.
It is highly advised to include fruits and vegetables in your diet. Fruits that are rich in antioxidants can help prevent conditions that can harm your respiratory structures. These can also defend your body from illness that can cause obstruction in your nasal passageway. Exercise is advised because this can tone your muscles. This is also helpful in preventing fat tissues from depositing within the throat.
It is also advised to get enough rest because stress can also be a predisposing factor. A regular visit to the doctor is also recommended so your health can be closely monitored. If you are already snoring, you should come to the doctor right away. This is because snoring …
The tank is light tight. The film is rolled onto a reel which is a spiral that keeps a space between the layers of film, so the developing solutions can flow evenly onto the surface of the emulsion. The bottle opener is used to pop the top on the 35mm cassette. The scissors are necessary to cut the film leader before loading film onto the reel. An accurate darkroom thermometer is extremely important because the length of the development time is determined by the temperature of the chemicals, and for proper processing all the developing chemicals need to be at the same temperature. You will also need as many measuring beakers as there are steps in the particular developing process you are using, according to Andrew Gibson.
It is important to have an accurate way of timing each step in development. A timer that lets you program in several steps is best. The chemicals needed will depend on the type of film you want to process.
I suggest starting with black-and-white film because it is the most forgiving and many times can be done at room temperature. Black-and-white film development uses three chemicals: developer,
If photographing birds while traveling, hang a collapsible water container over the buried saucer to create a water source. You can buy such containers where hiking supplies are sold. Attach plastic tubing to the container’s spigot, and extend the tubing to an area above the buried saucer. A two-gallon container holds enough water to drip for an entire day.
Either natural or artificial light can be used in bird photography. Don’t forget to consider lighting when choosing the location of the water set-up. If using sunlight, position your water station to take advantage of the pleasing light of morning and late afternoon. Avoid the harsh light of midday. If you plan on using a flash, choose a site that is in the shade.
Modern cameras simplify many aspects of bird photography, especially exposure. With my Nikon 8008s, I use two flashes in TTL mode. The main flash is positioned in front of the subject and slightly to the side of the lens axis. The second flash is positioned behind and to the side of the subject, to soften the shadows created by the main flash. Allowing the camera to determine the
Self-portraits require a different set of disciplines than other types of photography. The most obvious difference is that when the shutter is tripped, you are not looking through the viewfinder. This means that you must preconceive the results without the benefit of examining a composition through the camera. For example, the relationship of your face or entire body against a background has to be carefully considered. How will the elements behind you look if they are in focus, or out of focus? In other words, how much depth of field do you want? Should the portrait be tight, or should the background play an important role?
What about your facial expression? Do you see yourself as serious, joyous, depressed, intense, childish, or judgmental? These feelings about yourself change over time, and a self-portrait taken even a few days later may evoke a different expression. But whatever your toolings are at the moment, you will have to preconceive the results, and this mental exercise is good practice for other photographic endeavors.
The Equipment Is Key
The only special equipment required for making a self-portrait is a camera with a self-timer and a tripod. To give yourself
There have been several anti wrinkle creams on display touted as being able to do away with wrinkles caused by aging as well as smoothening skin. Lately, there have been claims by many scientists that the creams popularly used are not effective in the complete removal of wrinkles, forcing wrinkled individuals to use several creams which have effects on their skin. They have come up with a cream which has chemicals that doubles the amount of collagen produced by the skin. Collagen is a naturally …
For many women, the everyday pressures of life can hit them below the belt–literally. Here’s how to find relief.
You’re stuck in traffic, already 20 minutes late picking up the kids from soccer practice, and your stomach starts churning. Or your in-laws come to stay for a week, and by the end of it, you feel like your gut is in triple knots. You’re gassy, crampy, and miserable.
Up to 70 million of us have diseases and disorders of the digestive tract. And doctors say stress can often be the cause of such problems or, at the very least, the trigger for flare-ups. “We know that there are clear-cut physiologic changes in the bowel associated with stress,” says Joanne A. P. Wilson, M.D., a professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.
It isn’t clear exactly how stress triggers stomach mayhem, but one theory is that the brain sends signals to the gut, which, in turn, affect how the gut’s own brain (known as the enteric nervous system) functions. It’s thought that acids and other substances are secreted in response …
